A rugby lovers fest

WITH Port Elizabeth, and the Eastern Cape at large, gripped by Super Rugby fever after the performance by the Southern Kings in recent weeks, the Sunridge Village Shopping Centre and Framesby High School have teamed up to host a School Rugby Sevens Festival on April 5 and 6 at the school.

Organisers are confident the festival will become an annual event similar to the Sunridge Village 10km Family Walk/Run, which attracts a field of over 2000 and is one of the biggest races on the EPAU calendar.

This year the race is scheduled to take place on May 11.

The focus of next month's festival is to develop Sevens schoolboy rugby in the city by providing a platform for sport and fun for both players and spectators, while enjoying the sport.

Twelve of the top school teams from Port Elizabeth and surrounding areas will be competing for the trophy and a cash prize of R15000.

Framesby has excellent facilities including a large covered pavilion, which could become handy given the city's unpredictable weather.

In addition to the rugby, stalls around the field will offer products and services from tenants at Sunridge Village. If that is not enough, organisers will be offering a free shuttle from the school grounds to the centre in Kragga Kamma Road, giving easy access to all the shops for the duration of the festival.

The two days promise to be filled with fun, good rugby and great shopping at Sunridge Village Shopping Centre.
