Coega paying off its R21m municipal bill

The payment of its municipal bills remains a priority for the Coega Development

Corporation, CDC spokesman Ayanda Vilakazi said yesterday.

This week, the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s political head of budget and treasury, councillor Retief Odendaal, said Coega owed R21-million but had since paid R6-million.

It had made an arrangement to pay the rest in tranches. Vilakazi said the CDC had worked well with the municipality over the past 16 years.

“Where challenges emerge between the two institutions, we have always found a cordial way of resolving them to the benefit of our potential and current investors in the Coega IDZ.”
