A Port Elizabeth teenager was arrested for possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition early yesterday.
Police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said police were alerted by a resident about a youth, 19, walking in Scholtz Street, Bloemendal, allegedly with a gun.
The youth tried to flee when he was spotted by Bethelsdorp police on patrol at about 3.45am.
