Three suspected drug dealers were arrested during a raid on a Missionvale house on Friday.
Police responded to a tip-off that drugs were being sold from the Kerk Street house. Officials from the Visible Gang Intervention Unit and Tactical Response Team raided the house just after midnight.
Police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said about 1 000 mandrax tablets, tik, dagga, 16 rounds of live ammunition and a large amount of cash was seized.
“The estimated street value of the drugs is about R40 000,” she said.
Naidu said that the suspects, aged between 23 and 25, would appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
“Due to the quantity of drugs found at the house, they will face charges of dealing in drugs as well as for being in unlawful possession of ammunition.”
