Robbers nabbed within minutes

Four suspected robbers were arrested within 15 minutes of allegedly stealing money and a TV set from a house in KwaNobuhle, Uitenhage yesterday.

Police spokeswoman Captain Gerda Swart said the robbers kicked open the front door of a house in Amanzi Crescent and threatened the homeowner with a gun, before fleeing in a VW Polo with a plasma TV and money. “The homeowner notified the police.” Four suspects were arrested after a car chase. “All the stolen items from the house were found inside the car.”

The men, aged 26 to 38, will appear in the Uitenhage Magistrate’s Court today.

In Motherwell yesterday, a couple was held at gunpoint in their Mbiza Street home by two robbers.

After first demanding money, the robbers fled with the couple’s cellphones.

This comes days after a Seaview man was stabbed in a robbery at his home.
