Putco leaves Umhlobo Wenene

Popular DJ Putco Mafani has left Umhlobo Wenene FM to join new online radio station Rhythm FM.

After breaking the news on social media last night Mafani confirmed his resignation through a media statement. He will no longer be part of the popular Breakfast show “iBreakfast Eyondlayo Ekuseni”.

"This has been the most exciting but difficult time for me to leave Umhlobo Wenene FM, a station that I have called home- and achieved a lot with-for the past nine years.

“Including being inducted into the SA Radio Hall of Fame, winning multiple Best Breakfast Show Presenter awards,” Mafani said.

Mafani is said to be gearing up for a leadership role as station manager at the Eastern Cape province’s new commercial radio station.

While the launch date had not been finalised Rhythm FM will be based in East London and will work closely with the MSG Africa Group.
