Elephants trample Kruger Park employee‚ killing one and injuring another

A SANParks employee was trampled to death by an elephant in the Kruger National Park on Thursday.

SANParks spokesperson William Mabasa said another woman had been injured when a group of employees were attacked by a herd of elephant. The incident happened in the Mooiplaas section of the park near Mopani Camp.

“The circumstances are still being investigated in order to establish as to what actually happened‚” he said.

Mabasa added that the police and paramedics were called to the scene in the aftermath.

“They could not save the other colleague who had already lost her life when they arrived‚ and the injured was rushed to a hospital in Tzaneen‚” he said.

“We would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the family‚ relatives and friends of the deceased.”
