The search for a baby taken during a hijacking in Durban is ongoing after police and security officials found the stolen car on Friday afternoon.

The baby’s mother had been forced out of the car at gunpoint at a Greyville shopping centre shortly before noon.

Police and vehicle tracking officials threw out a wide dragnet for the white Toyota Yaris‚ which was found in the suburb of Montclair.

But there was no sign of the baby‚ said Marshall Security spokesperson Kyle Van Reenen.

“It was recovered in Moodie Crescent in Montclair … there is no sign of the baby. Marshall Security as well as the police are here with the car‚” he said.
