Waterfront tops Bay’s wish list

Delegates at a packed sector participation workshop on tourism in Port Elizabeth called yesterday for the development of a waterfront to be speeded up and for the city to be branded as an eco destination.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality’s sector participation workshops ended yesterday with tourism being the focal point.

The municipal initiative is directed at assisting the authority to develop a long-term socioeconomic and integrated strategic plan for the Bay.

Delegates crowded into the City Hall reception room yesterday reflected a wide range of sector stakeholders, from tour guides to restaurateurs.

They called for the development of the waterfront – a common thread through each of the 10 sector workshops – and for the city council to take a strong stance to make it happen.
