A Port Elizabeth teenager was shot dead in Bethelsdorp on Monday.
Chardon Garener, 18, of Chetty High School, was shot in the head by two unknown gunmen.
Police said they were unaware of any ties between Garener and gangs operating in the northern areas.
Police spokeswomen Colonel Priscilla Naidu said Garener and two friends, both 16, were washing a car outside a house in Blueberry Street shortly before 8pm.
“According to the friends, a man approached them. About 10m away, a firearm was hauled out. The man then started shooting,” she said.
The two escaped unharmed and the shooter ran away.
