Colourful paint jobs, outrageous suits and dusty roads will be par for the course when the Jam Jar Rally kicks off in Port Elizabeth next week.

The rally, featuring “pimped-up” vehicles and tons of fun, will see at least 33 participants take on a near 800km journey using dusty back roads as their guide.

Festivities begin at 7am on Friday, September 15 with cars departing from the Something Good parking lot.

Entrance rules are pretty simple and include four-member teams, cars older than 30 years and team members older than 18.

Also, pimped-up cars should not exceed a value of R30 000.

Teams compete in various challenges along the route and conduct random acts of kindness to earn points for their team.

The event, which started roughly five years ago, is the brainchild of Paul Engler, who said it was a chance for car enthusiasts to connect during the three-day rally for charity.

He said donations would be made all along the route, with a larger donation being made to the Khaya Cheshire home in Walmer

Anthony Groom, driver of “The Grim Reaper” a black Ford Cortina station wagon, said it was great to be part of the event.
