Alert issued after loan firm robbed

Micro and medium loan businesses have been urged to be vigilant after a gang posing as officials from the SA Social Security Agency (Sassa) terrorised staff at a cash loan business in Uitenhage at the weekend. Zhang Cash Loan was robbed of an undisclosed amount on Saturday after four men gained entry using a fake search warrant. All of them were wearing Sassa identity tags.

Police spokesman Sergeant Majola Nkohli said: “While inside, three employees were held at gunpoint. “The suspects fled the scene in a red getaway vehicle.” The police appealed to business owners in the area to be on the lookout for the gang. Anyone with information can phone 08600-10111.
