Residents to use water sparingly due to electricity shutdown

Nelson Mandela Bay residents have been urged to use water sparingly today to avoid depletion at some of the reservoirs.

This, as the Nooitgedagt water treatement plant will not be pumping any water into the reservoirs due to an electricity shutdown in the Sunday River Valley area.

Eskom has shutdown the power lines for maintenance work from 6am to 6pm today.

While the metro's reservoirs are full, municipal spokesman Mthubanzi Mniki urged residents to use it sparingly throughout the day to avoid running out of water.

Areas that could be affected first if the storage levels drop are Reservoir Hills, Khayamnandi, higher parts of Motherwell, Uitenhage, Despatch, Ibhayi and Chatty.
