The Danish woman who fell 70m to her death while hiking on a mountain trail in the Nieu-Bethesda area on Sunday has been identified as Caroline Clint.

Yesterday, authorities confirmed that the Danish Embassy and Clint’s family had been informed of her death.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Wessel Cronje said the embassy was liaising with the family and relevant authorities to ensure her body would be taken home.

Clint, 21, and a friend departed from the Ganora Guest Farm to go hiking early on Sunday afternoon.

The two got lost on the mountain and while trying to navigate, Clint lost her footing and fell down the cliff.

Her body was located at the bottom of the gorge just above a ravine.
