The government used taxpayers money to pay a whopping R185 000 towards the funeral for musician Mandoza‚ Sunday World reported.
The newspaper reported that despite offers for some of the services to be provided for free‚ the government still forked out the cash.
Not only did the government bankroll the funeral‚ Sunday World claims that some of the services were paid for twice‚ including a sound system.
The cash injection‚ which was authorised despite Mandoza’s family insisting that they did not want charity from anyone‚ has left some musicians fuming.
They say the government wasted money‚ especially considering some of the services were offered for free.
