More than 150 people were arrested for various crimes from robbery and murder to theft from a motor vehicle and unlawful possession of a firearm at the weekend.
According to police, 14 of the arrests were made after the Operational Command Centre Detective Tracing Team conducted several joint raids.
“The suspects were positively linked by fingerprints to cases of house robbery, theft out of a motor vehicle, and housebreaking committed across the Mount Road policing cluster,” police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said.
The Mount Road policing area includes Mount Road, Walmer, Humewood, Gelvandale, Bethelsdorp, Kabega Park and Algoa Park policing areas.
Over the weekend three pistols, a 9mm pistol, a revolver and Glock firearm were recovered.
In addition, 17 people were arrested for drunken driving and 22 people for drug-related cases.
