Court to see porn images next month

Images linked to a child pornography case are expected to be shown to the magistrate when a Port Elizabeth man who produced the pictures makes his next court appearance.

Dylan Gouws, 21, of Charlo, returned to the Port Elizabeth Regional Court yesterday, after pleading guilty to four charges of possessing child pornography.

The court and the state accepted his plea and he was convicted last month.

Among the images the prosecution plans to bring to court in aggravation of sentence, are images of young boys and explicit cartoons found on Gouws’s hard drive.

It will also include 108 pictures Gouws admitted to taking with his own camera in March last year.

Yesterday, his defence attorney Kuban Chetty handed in a correctional supervision report, as well as a probation officer’s report, in mitigation of sentence.

Gouws’s grandfather attended the brief proceedings.

The case was postponed to November 7 for magistrate Thandeka Mashiyi to consider the reports presented by the defence, and for the prosecution to show the explicit images.
