Councillors must get VIP treatment at the upcoming summer-season events in Port Elizabeth.
They could not simply be among the crowds when they were the ones who approved the event budgets, ANC councillor Xola Sabani said yesterday.
“We must not be treated like nobodies, we are the ones who pass these budgets. Sometimes we are not even given bottled water,” Sabani said.
“I am happy to see you [Soul Good events company] are strict with the guest lists. Sometimes the crowds make us want to rather stay at home with our children.”
Sabani spoke after events organisers presented their state-of-readiness reports for the summer season to the sports, recreation, arts and culture portfolio committee.
The city is set to host a number of artists, as well as DJs, to entertain Bay residents and revellers at Hobie and Wells Estate beaches from December 16.
