Two men pretending to be municipal water meter readers held a teenage girl and her younger brother at gunpoint on Wednesday afternoon.
The 15-year-old girl was in their Langeberg Street, Kamma Heights home with her 7-year-old brother when she heard a noise coming from the kitchen’s direction.
She went to investigate and found two men in the yard trying to communicate with her. She could not hear and the men closer.
“They said they were from the municipality and wanted to check our water meter,” the teenager said.
“I slightly opened the door and the gunman pushed me inside. He grabbed my by my hair and demanded to know where my parents kept money.”
The teenager, who was tied up and locked in the bathroom with her brother, said she kept praying to God for divine protection.
