Almost 600 people, some of whom were wanted by police, were arrested for a range of crimes across Nelson Mandela Bay at the weekend.
Among the 573 arrests were six for unlawful possession of firearms, with seven firearms recovered.
In a twist, four of the firearms recovered had not been reported missing or stolen by the owners, sparking an investigation of the gun owners.
Police spokesman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said 108 people were arrested in the Mount Road cluster. Some were held for murder, robbery, rape or burglary.
In the Uitenhage cluster, 268 people were arrested for crimes including hijacking, attempted murder and house robbery, Captain Gerda Swart said.
In the Motherwell cluster, 197 people were arrested, Captain Andre Beetge said.
