Alleged perlemoen kingpin Julian Brown’s bail conditions were amended during a brief appearance in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Brown, 30, the suspected head of a multimillion-rand illegal perlemoen operation, was arrested in June and faces a number of charges, including racketeering. He was released on R800 000 bail. His defence attorney, Danie Gouws, asked yesterday that the address attached to Brown’s bail conditions be changed to a residence in the Jeffreys Bay area as Brown was moving house.
Brown will now have to report to police in Jeffreys Bay every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Further amendments included his house arrest conditions, which will now be from 6pm until 9am.
Previously, the hours during which he was under house arrest were between 6pm and 6am.
Gouws has also asked to see the police docket before Brown’s next court appearance.
Brown is expected to return to court on November 18.
