Dora Nginza chief executive appointed Bhisho director amid mismanagement probe
After six months of investigation into allegations of mismanagement, Dora Nginza Hospital chief executive Dr Ntombi Qangule has been appointed director of hospital services at the Eastern Cape Department of Health.
Department spokesman Siyanda Manana called the move “precautionary redeployment”.
Despite assurances by Manana that an investigative report on allegations of gross mismanagement at the hospital would be made public, the report’s release was stopped by top management at the department.
Manana said following the findings of the report, the department had started with a second internal investigation. “Dr Qangule has provided us with answers.
We are just being careful as we do not want to leave anything to chance,” he said.
The title of director of hospital services was previously held by Qangule before she was given the post of Dora Nginza Hospital chief executive.
In February this year, after several unions went on strike demanding Qangule be dismissed, she was placed on leave pending an investigation into allegations of mismanagement at the facility.
