Fake sick note doctor’s leave to appeal conviction dismissed

A doctor’s application for leave to appeal his fraud conviction was dismissed in the Port Elizabeth Regional Court on Friday (09/09/16).

Dr  Bongani Nqini, who runs his surgery from Njoli Square in Zwide, was arrested in 2010 for issuing a backdated sick note without examining the patient.

On Friday, Magistrate Johan Herselman said he had carefully considered all evidence placed before him and he did not believe there was a reasonable prospect another court would come to a different decision.

Nqini was caught out when an undercover policewoman set up a sting by pretending to be a patient.

Under the circumstances we work under the doctor is not wrong, everyone deserves rest so if i go to the doctor for a sick note and he issues one out for me the is probably a very good reason for a patient to request for a sick note, 95% of the doctors they give out sick notes to their patients I don’t see anything wrong with that

The doctor had been wrong by acting in such an unprofessional and, also an ethical manner and should face his music. And, should also be acted against by the Health Professional Council of SA, for acting in such an unethical manner.
