Faulty electronic equipment causing major delays at Driving Licence Division

Faulty electronic equipment is hampering services at the Driving Licence Division of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, causing major delays.

Municipal spokesman Kupido Baron said while the national Department of Transport was responsible for repairing and replacing the equipment, the municipality was bringing in Live Scanning Units from its training college to ease the hold-up while new equipment is bought.

“The Licensing Division is in constant contact with the Provincial Department of Transport to request assistance.

“The above aggravates the current problems of staff shortages and is directly the cause of abnormally long queues and waiting time at our centres,”Baron said.
