Robbery victim lucky to escape with his life

A Despatch man was lucky to escape with his life on Saturday when a bullet fired at him grazed the side of his head.

The 35-year-old man was attacked in the driveway of his Muller Street home by two men at 11.40am.

Police spokesman Sergeant Majola Nkohli said the suspects walked up to the victim and pointed a firearm at him, prompting the man to scream.

“A shot was fired, which grazed the right side of the victim’s head,” Nkohli said.

“The victim’s brother heard the scream and came running out of the house.

“The suspects then pointed the firearm at the brother, before taking both their wallets and fleeing.”
