Man stabbed in wrists in Airport Valley robbery

A Port Elizabeth man had his wrists cut after a man broke into his home and stole a bag of clothing in one of three brazen house robberies at the weekend.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Alwin Labans said a 27-year-old man was lying in bed in his Airport Valley home on Saturday when a suspect walked in.

“The complainant was stabbed in his wrists while fighting off the suspect. During the fight, he managed to stab the suspect in chest,” he said.

The suspect grabbed a bag of clothing and fled.

Also on Saturday night, a 24-year-old Miramar woman discovered two suspects in her Straitford Street home.

“The woman heard a noise coming from the main bedroom, which she went to inspect,” Labans said.

“She saw two suspects who entered through the bedroom window after bending the burglar bars.”

Her ring, necklace, laptop and cellphone were stolen. She was not injured.

At 4.10am on Saturday, a 23-year-old student was about to go to bed in Admiralty Way, Summerstrand, when he heard a loud bang from his bedroom.

“He found two suspects had entered the room by pushing a wardrobe aside which had been in front of a window,” Labans said.

The men stole a laptop, wallet, cellphone and clothing.
