NMMU gets medical school

The country’s tenth medical school will be opened at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, vice-chancellor Prof Derrick Swartz announced yesterday.
He said government has finally given its formal approval for the establishment of a medical school after years of campaigning by the University.
It will be the second medical school in the Eastern Cape Province, after the existing one based at Walter Sisulu University (WSU) in Mthatha.
