Plane crash near Mossel Bay claims one life

A man has died after his light aircraft crashed in a game reserve near Mossel Bay in the Western Cape this morning.

Emergency services found the wrecked aircraft in the bushes in the in Herbersdale area.

A trail of debris had lead to the wreckage from where the plane had crashed into the ground. It appears to have slid for some distance.

After a search was conducted, paramedics found the pilots body lying a distance away from the aircraft.

Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for the man, who had already succumbed to his multiple fatal injuries. The pilot was declared dead on scene.

Early this morning paramedics responded to reports of another light aircraft crash in Midrand, north of Johannesburg.

Two men, believed to be in their early 30s, were found walking around the scene with only minor injuries.

The small aircraft they had been travelling in was lying upside down in an open veld near the airport.

Both incidents are being investigated by local authorities.
