Party leader visits grieving family

A VISIT and talk by Patriotic Alliance (PA) president Gayton McKenzie in Uitenhage last night started late after he paid a brief visit to the home of slain teenager Micaylen Hendricks to offer his condolences to the family.

About 200 people, wearing green T-shirts with the slogan “let’s break the curse”, filled the Rosedale Recreation Hall while waiting for McKenzie to arrive 30 minutes late.

Community leaders – including churchmen and women – had invited those attending to hear from McKenzie and his delegation.

It included PA chairwoman Leeanne Williams and Gauteng’s Ekurhuleni Metro mayoral candidate Dino Pieterson.

Offering personal testimony, McKenzie told the crowd: “God takes a shepherd and turns him into a king, and I am testament to that.”

The self-proclaimed motivational speaker was in town in an effort to garner more support for the political party which he founded in 2013.

“Let me tell you, the Lord has blessed me and I am here to share that with you.” McKenzie said his instruction from the Lord was to raise people up to become leaders.
