A group of mothers allege that they have been manhandled by department of education officials today.

This after they demanded to speak to Acting District Director Joy Grobler.

They are currently speaking to police officers in the corridors at the department.

The mothers are demanding answers regarding the ongoing shortage of teachers at schools in the northern areas of Port Elizabeth.

The protesting parents are refusing to leave the department until Grobler addresses them

It has been reported that they also plan to lay a charge of assault regarding two 40-year-old mothers who claim they were assaulted.

Grobler has asked police to escort them from the building.

This is a developing story.
