Murder suspects arrested

Two suspects aged 20 and 50 years old were arrested on Tuesday (23/02/2016) in Ncukuthu Street, Walmer location, for the alleged murder of Thembinkosi Faku.

It is alleged that last Wednesday (17/02/2016), Faku, who was in his late 20’s, was gunned down in his room in Sigcawu Street, Walmer location.

The owner of the house heard gunshots and asked her neighbour to investigate. Three men were seen leaving Faku’s room, which is situated at the back of the house.

On Tuesday (23/02/2016) members of the PE Flying Squad and Walmer police acted on a tip-off of an illegal firearm at a house in Walmer location. Two suspects were arrested and a 357 Magnum revolver was also confiscated by police. The two men suspects were detained at the Walmer police station.

The two suspects will appear in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Friday (26/02/2016) on charges of murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Police are urging communities not to be silent about crime and criminal activities in their areas, and but to report anything suspicious to them.

“Together we need to stand resolute in the fight against crime and by working together, we can make our communities safer. Information may be volunteered anonymously and all information will be treated as confidential.”
