Bay police make 400 arrests

MORE than 400 people were arrested in the Nelson Mandela Bay area at the weekend.

The arrests form part of operations carried out by the Mount Road, Motherwell and Uitenhage policing clusters from Friday night to 6am yesterday.

Police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said in the Mount Road cluster, 152 suspects were arrested on charges ranging fromillegal possession of firearms, ammunition and drugs to burglary.

“The operations also consisted of tracing wanted suspects who have been on the run,” she said.

In the Motherwell cluster, 87 people were arrested and in Uitenhage 165 were arrested.
