Police examine the remains of a VW Golf which was set alight outside the Gelvandale Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Police spokeswoman Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said its owner had been inside the courthouse with friends.
He has refused to open a case of malicious damage to property.
Residents said they saw flames coming from the vehicle but did not see who had set it alight.
