Seasonally strong on-shore winds of more than 60km/h battered Nelson Mandela Bay yesterday. The strength of the gusts compelled the national flag custodians in the Bay, the Prince Alfred’s Guard, to lower and remove the giant flag from its pole at the Donkin Reserve near the Port Elizabeth city centre to prevent it from being damaged.
