Six hospitals to provide specialist rape services

Eastern Cape Health MEC Pumza Dyantyi will hand over specialised forensic equipment to six hospitals today.
Provincial health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said the hospitals had been selected to provide specialist services to rape victims.
Colposcopy machines will be given to Settlers Hospital in Grahamstown, Empilisweni District Hospital in Sterkspruit, Humansdorp Provincial Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital in Flagstaff, Indwe Hospital and SS Gida Hospital in Keiskammahoek.
“This intervention is aimed at assisting the National Prosecuting Authority to secure more [rape] convictions,” Kupelo said.
