NMMU student takes his place in Top Ten

As campuses across the country descended into chaos over the past few weeks one NMMU student was going about his business becoming one of South Africa’s top 100 graduates.

Nigerian-born Bachelor of Commerce (Economics) student Adewale Osifowokan was last month announced one of the top 10 Gradstar Award winners. The Gradstar awards is an initiative by BlackBark productions and GradConnection and aims to match the country’s best future graduates with potential employers and business mentors. It gives participating employers and the top 100 graduates access to each other. Osifowokan, 20, of Ogun State, said he had entered earlier this year as he had always wanted to be part of the university’s “Reasons to be Proud” communications newsletter. “I am a firm believer in hard work and the recognition of hardworking people in whatever field or position. “I [have] noticed that society pays more attention to ‘Mr and Miss whatever’ or ‘ most beautiful person in whatever’ than it does to hardworking students and top-achieving scholars,” he said.
