Worker finds human skeleton in Summerstrand

A human skeleton was found under a tree in the bushes near Solomon Street in Summerstrand at about 9.30am yesterday.

The discovery was made by a worker. Police spokesman Warrant Officer Alwin Labans

said it was not known if the person had been male or female.

“The only thing left was the skeleton. The forensic team was called to the scene and the remains

were taken to the mortuary to assist us with identification,” he said.

“We are awaiting the forensic report to determine the age and gender of the person.”

“There are no immediate signs to suggest what the person died from. This will have to be ascertained by the forensic examiners.”

Once police establish the gender and age of the remains, detectives will go through their missing

personal files.
