Two in court after Helenvale shooting

Two suspected gangsters, who allegedly shot dead a man at the weekend before speeding away from police, appeared briefly in court yesterday. Renaldo Africa, 23, was gunned down in an alley that borders Van Duuren Street in Helenvale at about 9.30am on Saturday, bringing the gang-related death toll since the beginning of the month to 11.
By 10am, police had arrested Shaun Horne, 22, Shane Arendse, 23, Renaldo Koosbe, 24, and Dayne Oosthuizen, 25. All four are believed to be members of the Upstand Dogs. Arendse and Oosthuizen were charged with the murder of Africa while the other two face various charges. All four will remain in custody till Monday when they will reappear for a formal bail application.
