Suspected stolen property valued at R100k recovered

A 33-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested and suspected stolen property to the value of R100000 has been recovered in Cradock after police received information about criminal activity on Sunday.

Members of Public Order Policing, in conjunction with Crime Intelligence arrived at a residence in Lingelihle with a search warrant and upon investigation, discovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in the house, as well as suspected stolen property.

Police spokeswoman Captain Stefanie Smith says the recovered property ranged from construction tools, a generator, electrical appliances and bicycles.

“It was not only one or two bicycles, it was a few. It was all property with quite a high value.”

Smith says the suspect is expected to appear in the Cradock Magistrate’s Court tomorrow on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of stolen property.
