East Cape set to showcase itself

Province to present joint front at Tourism Indaba

EASTERN Cape tourism entities are teaming up to sell the province as a whole, showcasing various attractions on offer to thousands of attendees at the Tourism Indaba in Durban this weekend.

Nelson Mandela Bay Tourism (NMBT), Eastern Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA), the Nelson Mandela Museum, Steve Biko Centre and various district municipalities will, for the first time, jointly promote the province’s offerings at one of the biggest tourism marketing events in Africa.

ECPTA chief executive Vuyani Dayimani said selling the province as a whole could lead to bigger spin-offs, especially when dealing with an international market.

“Promoting the province at various destination marketing platforms, especially where there are international buyers involved, requires a lot of focus and effort in locating the experience or establishment in the bigger global map before one is even able to convince the buyer about the particular experience,” he said.
