Gym trainer released on bail following dagga bust

A GYM instructor arrested on Thursday night after a raid on his Lorraine home uncovered 100 dagga plants, was released on R2 000 bail in the Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Dean Sale, 53, made a brief appearance in court before his case was postponed to June 24 for further investigation.

He faces provisional charges of dealing in and possession of dagga.

Police allegedly confiscated 2.9kg of dagga with an estimated value of R58 000, 100 dagga plants and some cash.

He has not yet pleaded to the charges.

Shortly after his arrest, police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu said information had been received from the Kabega Park police station before officers at the Mount Road police station obtained a search warrant. At about 11am yesterday, police arrived at the house.

Naidu told The Herald while on the scene that there were numerous containers scattered throughout the house with dagga in them and that “if you stand by the front door you can smell it”. ALSO READ:
