Severe weather warnings for Eastern Cape this weekend

Severe weather warnings have been issued for the Eastern Cape this weekend, the Port Elizabeth Weather Office said today. According to Quinton Jacobs from the PE Weather Office,  a strong frontal system will be moving through the Eastern Cape starting  midmorning tomorrow in the west and spreading to the east overnight. High seas with waves reaching between 6m to 9m in height is expected between Cape St Francis and Port Alfred tomorrow overnight and into Saturday morning. Gale force south westerly winds of  62km/h is expected along the coast between Cape St Francis and Cannon Rocks tomorrow afternoon with strong winds expected in places over the interior of the Eastern Cape from midday on Saturday, subsiding towards the evening. Snowfall is also expected on the northern mountain ranges throughout the Eastern Cape starting tomorrow.  On Saturday, snowfall is expected over the Sneeuberge, Winterberge and the southern mountains overnight, spreading to the north eastern mountains on Saturday morning. Conditions are expected to improve from the west on Saturday.
