THE man accused of attempting to murder his estranged wife will find out tomorrow when he will back in court to apply for bail.

Martin Stevens, 47, will return to the Port Elizabeth Magistrates Court tomorrow, after his case was postponed yesterday.

Stevens will appear to acquire a provisional date for his formal bail application.

Stevens handed himself over to police in October after allegedly stabbing his wife, Anna-Marie, seven times at her friend’s flat in Sydenham.

He was referred to a district surgeon last year for mental evaluation as he had previously threatened suicide.

Yesterday, his defence attorney Alwyn Griebenow told the court they had secured a bed for him at Fort England Psychiatric Hospital for June 8.

He will remain in custody.
