Yummy tips on how to use leftover Easter eggs

While it seems absolutely unlikely that an occasion like this would arise (don't you just eat it in one go?) a South African-born chef now working in the UK has creative and delicious sounding ways to use up leftover Easter eggs.

Head Pastry Chef Ellen de Jager‚ from the Michelin-starred Bohemia Restaurant‚ Jersey‚ offers these recipes for folk who may have a little more chocolate than they'd bargained for. Caution: Not suitable for the calorie-shy!

1. Rocky Road For an easy no bake recipe for the children‚ try Easter-themed rocky road. Mix the melted leftover chocolate with mini marshmallows‚ digestive biscuits‚ dried fruit or mini chocolate eggs then place in the fridge to set for 3 hours. Once it is set‚ dust with icing sugar.

2. Chocolate Croissants Make or buy readymade croissant dough and stuff with leftover Creme or Caramel eggs. Once baked you’ll have warm croissants oozing with chocolate.

3. Chocolate Bananas Feeling a bit guilty after all of that chocolate? For that ‘health kick’ cover sliced banana in melted chocolate then put in the fridge to set.

4. Chocolate Mug Cake Quick melt butter and chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds. Beat the mixture until soft then whisk in an egg‚ sugar‚ flour and baking powder then microwave for one minute and 20 seconds.

5. Crème Egg Brownies or Cupcakes Add leftover crème eggs to cupcake or brownie mix for a gooey chocolate centre.

6. Ice Cream Topping Simply melt your leftover Easter chocolate and pour over ice cream as chocolate sauce.
