Five senior jobs to be filled in Bay

FIVE top jobs are up for grabs in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The municipality has started the process of trying to fill four senior vacancies in the metro, while the Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) is looking for a chief operating officer, a new post to strengthen capacity in the entity.

The municipality is looking for executive directors of human settlements and safety and security, positions left vacant by former department heads Lindile Petuna and Shane Brown respectively.

Petuna was suspended in August last year on various charges of misconduct.

He reached a settlement agreement with the municipality and resigned.

Brown asked to be demoted to his previous job as director of disaster management.

The city has also advertised the vacancies of senior director of budget and financial accounting – previously manned by Selwyn Thys, who resigned and took up a job as chief financial officer at the Kouga Municipality.

A deputy director of skills development and employment equity is also being sought.

The closing date for applications is February 26.
