Eskom requests Kudu substation shutdown

Many Despatch residents will be without electricity on Saturday morning (23 January 2016) to enable the emergency upgrade and refurbishment of supply lines to the area.

According to the municipality, Eskom requested the shutdown of the Kudu substation on Saturday to carry out refurbishments. The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will be shutting down the electricity supply to almost the entire Despatch between 5am and 11:30am.

Daleview, Reservoir Hills, Khayamnandi and the industrial area, alternatively fed from the San Souci substation on Saturday to soften the blow, should not be affected by the outage.

According to Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality Acting Communications Director, Kupido Baron, the upgrade and refurbishment is done to ensure a more reliable and stable electricity supply.
