Christmas weather update

Christmas weekend is not looking bad weather wise, Port Elizabeth announced on Facebook this morning.

Conditions will be warm to hot with a bit of light rain expected in the Border (East London) area later on Christmas day. Province wide rain is expected on Boxing day, which should be a welcome relief in the dry areas in the east.

The forecast according to Weather Guru is as follows:

Christmas Eve:

Partly cloudy and hot but warm along the coast, becoming cloudy in the east in the evening.

Coastal winds moderate to fresh south westerly

Christmas Day:

Partly cloudy and warm to hot in the Western half of the Eastern Cape (West of the Fish River), but cool along the coast. Cloudy and cool in the Eastern half, with light rain in the former Transkei region spreading to East London by evening. Afternoon thundershowers are expected along the Lesotho border.

Coastal winds moderate south easterly, freshening to north easterlies in the afternoon

Boxing Day:

Cloudy and warm to cool along the coast. Widespread showers and thundershowers are expected over the entire Eastern Cape.

Coastal wind fresh to strong easterly

Sunday:

Cloudy and hot, but warm along the coast and in the east, where there will be some light rain.
