Farm killing: man appears

Suspect faces second murder charge

ONE of the men arrested at the weekend in connection with a brutal farm killing in Aberdeen last week appeared in the town’s magistrate’s court yesterday. Prominent sheep farmer George “Schalk” Featherstone, 75, was shot multiple times on his farm during a late-night attack on Thursday.

Winston “Sallie” Booysen and Andries Williams, both 26, were arrested on Saturday following a joint search by police and farmers.

Booysen and Williams were also detained in connection with other alleged criminal activities for which they were on the run.

Due to the case involving a farm attack, the Organised Crime branch of the police has been roped in to assist.

Police spokesman Warrant Officer Pierre Harmse said a preliminary investigation revealed that Williams was not linked to the murder.
