Controversial Port Elizabeth tow truck operator Raven Rungan was shot four times this morning. He is in a stable condition in hospital.
The 43-year-old owner of towing company V&R Auto has spent the past few months in and out of court with a slew of civil and criminal cases, which have grabbed headlines each time.
Rungan faces a charge of culpable homicide after he hit and killed a teenager along Circular Drive in December 2010.
This is the second time this year that a member of the Port Elizabeth tow truck community is shot. In June one of Port Elizabeth's best-known tow truck drivers, while waiting outside the offices of an ambulance service in Newton Park.
We are on the scene and will post more information as it becomes available.
