Official’s ‘fake kids’ missing

A DISGRACED Home Affairs official and jailed fraudster, who is alleged to have invented four fictitious children to claim social benefits, conceded they had “disappeared off the face of the earth” when she failed to present them to the court.

Primrose Dyonase, who is serving a jail sentence for defrauding the Department of Home Affairs, was back in court yesterday to defend the latest allegations that she created the children to claim social benefits on their behalf.

While Dyonase insisted that the children did in fact exist, she could not present them to the court and conceded that they had “disappeared off the face of the earth”.

Dyonase, 48, of Algoa Park, was escorted to the Port Elizabeth Commercial Crimes Court from East London, where she is serving an eightyear sentence for defrauding Home Affairs out of R145 000 through false travel claims.  - Kathryn Kimberley
